- Understand that strategic plans are dynamic instruments which set out the short, medium and long term goals of an
organisation, and are informed by vision / mission statements, core values, matters of policy, ethics and the legal framework within which the body corporate operates.
- Understand the purpose and characteristics of a vision statement and demonstrate the ability to formulate one an
organisation.
- Understand the purpose and characteristics of a mission statement and demonstrate the ability to develop one.
- Understand and be able to determine common values.
- Analyse the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats to the organisation / department / section.
- Analyse the Political, Economic, Social and Technological environment in which the organisation pursues its objectives.
- Generate short, medium and long term goals taking into consideration the results of the analyses above.
- Determine the resources needed to carry out the goals above.
- Determine realistic time frames for each section of the plan, and set review and report-by dates.

The programme can be designed for a one-day, or two-day session depending on organizational needs.
|
|

|
The participant centred workshop is facilitated by the session leader who will guide the team through the various processes. Activities include role plays, case studies, group discussions and
lecturettes. The activities are designed to ensure both individual and group participation.

|
For maximum effectiveness and interaction, the group size must be limited to no more than twenty participants.
