  • To acquire a general understanding of the intent and purpose of current labour legislation, i.e. Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Skills Development Act and Employment Equity Act.
  • To understand employee relations and the role of trade unions and shop stewards in an organisation.
  • To understand and and be able to implement the company's disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • To effectively conduct disciplinary and grievance hearings through the understanding and application of principles, i.e.:
       The roles and responsibilities of the
         participants
       Conducting effective meetings
       Effective communication skills
       Conflict resolution skills

A newly appointed first-level supervisor or anyone who wants to improve his / her competencies in the area of industrial relations.

The programme is designed as a full day session, but can be adjusted to suit the delegates' specific needs.

The participant centred workshop format uses interactive and experiential activities, including role plays, case studies, group discussions and lecturettes. The activities are designed to ensure both individual and group participation.

For maximum effectiveness and interaction, the group size must be limited to not more than twelve delegates.
