  • The course is aligned with the following unit standards:

  •    1) US ID 119567. Perform basic life support     and first aid procedures
        (5 credits on NQF Level 1).
       2) US ID 116511. Carry out basic first aid     treatment in the workplace
        (1 credit on NQF Level 1).

After successful completion of the course, private individuals and company First Aiders will be able to sustain life and manage the scene of an injury. The content of the course meets the requirements of the Department of Labour as per the terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

The following content is included:
   Understanding the reasons why emergencies take     place in the workplace
   What to do in case of an emergency and dealing     with casualties
   First aid treatment and monitoring of casualties
   First aid treatment techniques designed to provide     primary life support

Two days.

Candidates / groups will be selected according to literacy ability. Reading, writing and communication ability at ABET level 2.
